Foreign Networks Using Central Asian Suicide Bombers Against Pakistan

Akhtar Jamal [Pakistan Observer]

A number of foreign networks and elements have been using Central Asian misguided youths to carry out series of suicide bombings inside Pakistan particularly against security forces.

According to area experts hundreds of orphans and poor youths from Afghanistan, Uzbekistan,Tajikistan, Chechnya, Tataristan and Russian Federation have been motivated to launch suicide attacks against Pakistani security men and offices.

Experts were able to compiled dozens of photographs of such youths who have been used by their foreign operatives and handlers to launch attacks on Pakistani targets during 2010 and first few weeks of 2011.

According to the information collected from militants’ sources there are at least over three thousand Central Asian militants being trained inside Afghanistan and alongside Pak-Afghan border terrain which remained untouched by the U.S. and NATO forces.

What is more surprising for Pakistan is the fact that most of the terrorist leaders are regularly traveling to Afghanistan and to Central Asian states and brining in hundreds of disgruntle youths in the name of “Islamic brotherhood” and “Jihad”. The routine movement of these terrorist leaders without any check and hindrance from more than 135,000 U.S. and NATO troops and over 100,000 Afghan troops remain mystery for Pakistani experts.

A source which monitors the movements of terrorist told this correspondent that foreign instructors with native English, Russian and German languages are also readily available for the terrorists training along Pak-Afghan border areas.

The two suspicious organizations Islamic Jihad Union and Islamic Movement Uzbekistan (IMU) are leading networks with trainers from Russia, India, Uzbekistan and Chechenya. It may be recalled the former leader of IMU, Tehir Yuldashev had trained hundreds of militants during pre 9/11 period. Tahir Yuldashev was arrested and sent to Guantanamo Bay but returned back to emerge much stronger during 2004. During 2005-6 Yuldashev organized several terrorist units which remained operative against Pakistan.

It is believed that foreign agencies involved in the training of militants also led to the creation of so-called Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) under the leadership of Baitullah Mehsud whose brother Abdullah Mehsud was also arrested and was handed over to U.S. forces.

He too spent time in Guantanamo Bay only to return to Pak-Afghan border area during mid 2000. It was Abdullah Mehsud who had kidnapped two Chinese engineers in Pakistan in 2004 and an attempt to rescue the Chinese resulted in the death of a Chinese engineer.
