The Fall of the US Empire and the Breakup of the Geopolitical Matrix

A Casey Report Interview with Richard Maybury
With everything going on in the world today, we thought it a good time to catch up with the views of longtime friend Richard Maybury, a low-key but highly respected author, lecturer and analyst. In addition to his work consulting with businesses and high net worth individuals on strategic planning, Richard is the editor of the U.S. & World Early Warning Report, a monthly service that helps readers see the world as it is, versus how the media and the officialdom would like you to see it. Richard is widely regarded as one of the finest free-market writers in America today. His articles have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and other major publications.

How Will America Handle The Fall of Its Middle East Empire?

Empires can collapse in the course of a generation. At the end of the 16th century, the Spanish looked dominant. Twenty-five years later, they were on their knees, over-extended, bankrupt, and incapable of coping with the emergent maritime powers of Britain and Holland. The British empire reached its fullest extent in 1930. Twenty years later, it was all over.
Today, it is reasonable to ask whether the United States, seemingly invincible a decade ago, will follow the same trajectory. America has suffered two convulsive blows in the last three years. The first was the financial crisis of 2008, whose consequences are yet to be properly felt. Although the immediate cause was the debacle in the mortgage market, the underlying problem was chronic imbalance in the economy.

How To Brainwash A Nation

interview was done back in 1985 with a former KGB agent who was trained in subversion techniques. He explains the 4 basic steps to socially engineering entire generations into thinking and behaving the way those in power want them to. It's shocking because our nation has been transformed in the exact same way, and followed the exact same steps.

Ordered to Attack Own People, Libyan Pilots Crash Their Jets

On Wednesday, the Gadhafi regime ordered two of its pilots to attack the opposition stronghold of Benghazi – part of the Libyan government’s ongoing attempt to bomb activists into submission. But rather than make that attack run, Abdessalam Attiyah al-Abdali and his co-pilot Ali Omar al-Kadhafi bailed. They parachuted out of their Russian-made Sukhoi 22, and let the jet crash about 100 miles west of Benghazi.

Israeli general given credit for Stuxnet worm

An Israeli general has been credited with being behind the Stuxnet worm which played havoc with Iran's nuclear facilities.
General Gabi Ashkenazi retired this week after failing to gain promotion to the post of Chief of Staff. At his leaving party a video was shown which credited the out-going general with a hand in the operations which saw the specially-crafted Stuxent worm planted in Iran's nuclear facilities.
According to a Hebrew-language report in the Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz -  the video outlining the general's achievements made mention of the worm as well as an attack on nuclear reactor in Syria three and-a-half years ago. Israel never claimed responsibility for the attack, but there aren't that many other suspects.

Stuxnet was credited with stalling Iran's nuclear ambitions. The New York Times suggested last month that the worm had been developed by American and Israeli military scientists as a part of a joint project, but neither has confirmed any involvement.
The latest twist in the tale published by Haaretz and spotted by net-security.org never appeared in English.

The Struggle for Self-Determination in the Arab World: The Alliance between Arab Dictators and Global Capital

Is 1848 Repeating Itself in the Arab World? Is history repeating itself? Have the events of 1848 in Europe repeated themselves in the Arab World? Will 2011 see the same outcomes as 1848? Only the Arab people can decide. Their fate is in their hands, but they should learn from the mistakes of 1848 and seriously address the role of the capitalist class.
The Arabs are seeing their second wave of revolt against colonialism. The first wave of revolt started between the First World War and at the end of the Second World War. It involved the Great Arab Revolt, with British and French support, against Ottoman Turkey during the First World War and then Arab revolt against Britain, France, and Italy during and after the Second World War. [3]
During the formal period of colonialism, the authority of the colonial powers (Britain, France, and Italy) were politically visible. Today, the Arab World is under the ”invisible authority” of the neo-colonial powers.  These include the U.S., Britain, and France.

Davis flies into fury on prayer call

A jail officer, pseudonym Mohammad Abdullah, claimed the American abused Jail Superintendent Mian Mushtaq Awan who was approaching to pacify him.
Before the superintendent, Davis misbehaved with Awan’s subordinates who woke him up for the breakfast around 8am.
“You all are bloody bastards. How dare you wake me without my permission. Now get lost,” Davis swore at Abdullah.

Who is In charge and Who will pay for this Lunacy?

PKKH Editorial Exclusive | Mobisher Rabbani
The story of the rise of the lunatic asylum and its gradual transformation into, and eventual replacement by, the modern psychiatric hospital is also the story of the rise of organized, institutional psychiatry. Psychiatric hospitals, also known as mental hospitals, are hospitals specializing in the treatment of serious mental disorders.
Patients are often admitted on a voluntary basis, but involuntary commitment is practiced when an individual may pose a significant danger to themselves or others. One such possible patient is Raymond Davis, a department of defense contractor whose lunatics has cost the lives of four innocent Pakistanis. He is accused of two counts of murder and terrorism related charges. Autopsy shows victims were shot in the back repeatedly and eye witnesses saw him even taking their pictures of the deceased.

Every year the United States government spends half a trillion dollars on contracts for goods and services from private companies. The total workforce of those companies including workers not on federal contracts accounts for 22 percent of American workers, according to David Madland, director of the American Worker Project at the Center for American Progress. There is no way of knowing the total count of all private contractors. The estimate in June of last year is that there are around 200,000 service members in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia.
In April 2010 the Department of Defense Inspector General released a report titled “Efforts to Prevent Sexual Assault/Harassment Involving DOD Contractors during Contingency Operations.” This is an issue that seems to keep happening over the years; from the days when DynCorp contractors were involved in a sex trafficking scandal in Bosnia when employees and supervisors engaged in sex with 12 to 15 year old children, and sold them to each other as slaves to the gang-rape of Jamie Leigh Jones a former KBR employee who claimed that seven KBR employees drugged and gang-raped her on July 28, 2005 at Camp Hope, Baghdad, Iraq.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) has even issued a report calling for the United States government to prosecute private security contractors accused of killing civilians, stating that indiscriminate civilian killings amount to war crimes or crimes against humanity. Previous uproar of criticism surrounds two high profile incidents in which scores of Iraqi civilians were shot by private contractors acting on diplomatic security detail. In one case, the Australian firm, Unity Resources Group, was tied to the deaths of two Iraqi women who approached a USAID convoy. In 2007, a group of Blackwater employees shot up Al Nisoor Square in Baghdad, killing 17 Iraqi civilians. The evidence against these guards was substantial, and lead to federal prosecutions against them. However, a United States federal judge through out all charges against the employees because actions taken by the government during the investigation of the shooting violated the contractors’ constitutional rights.
As to their role in Afghanistan, most recently, Mr. Karzai summed it up best when he lashed out in public, accusing U.S. funded private security companies of killing people, looting homes and shops. “They violate the law, they kill people, the people get attacked and the civilians get killed by these private security companies,” he said. He openly in his ABC sit down to made a direct pitch to the American public. “I’m appealing to the U.S. taxpayer,” he said, “not to allow their hard earned money to be wasted on groups that are not only providing lots of inconvenience to the Afghan people but are actually, God knows, in contract with mafia-like groups and perhaps also funding militants, and insurgents and terrorists with those funds.”
Private contractors were the saving grace to the need for more troops to fight overseas in multiple countries as well as to staff the multitude of U.S. bases on foreign soil. Very comfortably and conveniently they eliminated the need for a draft and all the problems associated with the selective service. What the American people did not consider is the more-or-less secret, diminishing power of the U.S. government over its own fighting forces and the physiological applications of these hired guns coming back to live in their neighborhoods, towns, counties, cities, states and country.
Of grave concern, given the change to the military effort, is the question of who has control over the individual armed forces of all these troops operating under different U.S. agencies and corporations. Ultimately, it is possible the president has lost control as commander-in-chief of the military forces of the United States. Can the commander-in-chief fire privatized soldiers? Has the U.S. military itself lost control of troops engaged in armed combat and other maneuvers when privatized soldiers outnumber GIs and are beholden to the dictates of separate and independent corporations?
Who is in charge of operations involving independent contractors? Is the DOD, the Pentagon, other governmental departments or agencies, the president, or the corporations? One thing is certain, the American people, the majority of who are opposed to these wars, who are supposed to be in charge, are not. Likewise, the Karzai government is not. The fact is the Department of Defense (DOD), the Department of State, the CIA, and USAID, etc., all employ private contractors in foreign countries.
Have there been prosecutions? Peter Singer, the author of “Corporate Warriors: The Rise of the Privatized Military Industry,” states that no contractor has been prosecuted for misbehavior in Iraq. There have been some civil lawsuits, for example, the families of the four Blackwater guards killed in Fallujah are suing for wrongful death. We are using contractors for things that in the past might have been considered to be a violation of the Geneva Convention,’ said Lt. Col. Addicott, who now runs the Center for Terrorism Law at St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. ‘In my opinion, we have pressed the envelope to the breaking limit, and it’s almost a fiction that these guys are not in offensive military operations.’ Addicott added, ‘If we were subjected to the International Criminal Court, some of these guys could easily be picked up, charged with war crimes and put on trial. That’s one of the reasons we’re not members of the International Criminal Court.’”
Many Americans are already painfully aware that violent crime is experiencing a massive upsurge in the United States. As the U.S. economy has tanked and as unemployment has skyrocketed, many Americans have found themselves becoming increasingly desperate. Hard economic times usually lead to an increase in crime, but what is happening across the U.S. now is absolutely stunning add to that lunatic individuals like Raymond Davis are allowed to come back to the U.S. Compared with other countries, the United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world. As of 2006, a record 7 million people were behind bars, on probation or on parole, of which 2.2 million were incarcerated. The United States has 5% of the world’s population and 25% of the world’s incarcerated population
The questions now arises is why is the US Government is adamant with using all their resources to get such a person released from a Pakistani prison. With his identity exposed he won’t be good for any undercover work and a liability for any other work. He will most probably stay confined to living in the United States on the tax payer’s expense either on unemployment benefits or in a lunatic asylum. The ball is in the US tax payers court do they want such Rambos to rot in foreign prisons and get punished for their hideous crimes or walk freely among them in their neighborhoods, towns, counties, cities, states and country. My advice to the US taxpayers would be it is time to take charge for their and their children’s safety and security from such individuals or they will have to suffer just like how Iraqis, Afghans and now Pakistanis are suffering.

CIA Spy Captured Giving Nuclear Bomb To Terrorists-

While all eyes in the West are currently trained on the ongoing revolution taking place in Egypt, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) is warning that the situation on the sub-continent has turned “grave” as it appears open warfare is about to break out between Pakistan and the United States.
Fueling this crisis, that the SVR warns in their report has the potential to ignite a total Global War, was the apprehension by Pakistan of a 36-year-old American named Raymond Allen Davis [photo 2nd left], whom the US claims is one of their diplomats, but Pakistani Intelligence Services (ISI) claim is a spy for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Davis was captured by Pakistani police after he shot and killed two men in the eastern city of Lahore on January 27th that the US claims were trying to rob him.
Pakistan, however, says that the two men Davis killed were ISI agents sent to follow him after it was discovered he had been making contact with al Qaeda after his cell phone was tracked to the Waziristan tribal area bordering Afghanistan where the Pakistani Taliban and a dozen other militant groups have forged a safe haven and former CIA agent Tim Osman(also known as Osama bin Laden) is believed to be in hiding.
Of the actual gunfight itself we can read as reported by the Time News Service which, in part, says:
The combat skills exhibited by Davis, along with documentation taken from him after his arrest, prove, according to this report, his being a member of the feared American Task Force 373 (TF373) black operations unit currently operating in the Afghan War Theater and Pakistani tribal areas comprised of US Military Special Forces Soldiers, CIA spies and freelance mercenaries.
Further information about Davis discovered by the Times of India includes:
Since Davis’s capture the US has exerted extraordinary pressure upon Pakistan to release him, including the American Ambassador warning President Asif Ali Zardari to release him “or else” and the cancellation of all talks between these two nuclear powered Nations.
Today, according to this SVR report, this most critical of situations became even worse when a Pakistani judge refused to bow to American pressure and ordered a further 14-day detention of Davis, and which sparked an immediate threat from US National Security Advisor Tom Donilon, who told Pakistani envoy Hussain Haqqani that the Obama administration will “kick him out of the US”, close American consulates in Pakistan and cancel President Zardari's upcoming visit to Washington if their CIA spy wasn’t released immediately.
Fearing that the conflict over Davis may lead to open warfare, the Pakistanis were quick to let the Americans know they would not come out any conflict unscathed with their firing yesterday of their new Hatf-VII nuclear cruise missile (also called Babur after the 16th-century Muslim ruler who founded the Mughal Empire) that Major General Athar Abbas said “…can carry strategic and conventional warheads, has stealth capabilities, is a low-flying, terrain-hugging missile with high manoeuvrability, pinpoint accuracy and radar avoidance features.”
The United States Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) further reported yesterday that Pakistan appears to be building a fourth military nuclear reactor, signaling its determination to produce more plutonium for atomic weapons.
Most ominous in this SVR report, though, is Pakistan’s ISI stating that top-secret CIA documents found in Davis’s possession point to his, and/or TF373, providing to al Qaeda terrorists “nuclear fissile material” and “biological agents” they claim are to be used against the United States itself in order to ignite an all-out war in order to reestablish the West’s hegemony over a Global economy that is warned is just months away from collapse.
Not known to the masses of the American people is that the $20 Trillion they have spent on their longest wars in history has bankrupted their Nation to such an extent that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) called yesterday for replacement of the US Dollar as the World’s reserve currency.
More crucially that the American people are ignoring is the fact that their own government has unleashed against them a 21st Century update to the dreaded US Military “Operation Northwoods” campaign of terror designed to enrage them to accepting war as their main way of life.
Operation Northwoods was a series of false-flag operation proposals that originated within the United States government in 1962. The proposals called for the CIA, or other operatives, to commit acts of terrorism in US cities and elsewhere. These acts of terrorism were to be blamed on Cuba in order to create public support for a war against that nation, which had recently become communist under Fidel Castro. One part of Operation Northwoods was to “develop a Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area, in other Florida cities and even in Washington.”
Operation Northwoods proposals included hijackings and bombings followed by the introduction of phony evidence that would implicate the Cuban government. It stated:
Several other proposals were included within Operation Northwoods, including real or simulated actions against various US military and civilian targets. The plan was drafted by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, signed by Chairman Lyman Lemnitzer and sent to the Secretary of Defense. Although part of the US government's Cuban Project anti-communist initiative, Operation Northwoods was never officially accepted and the proposals included in the plan were never executed.
James Bamford summarizes Northwoods as follows:
Though Operation Northwoods had the “approval” of the Chairman and every member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, it did not have the approval of their boss, President John F. Kennedy (1917-1963), but who barely one year after his outright rejection of this monstrous plan to kill thousands of innocent Americans was gunned down as an example to any future US leader what would happen to them if they dared go against the wishes of the Military-Industrial Complex (MIC).
Today, as the US Department of Homeland Security has just issued a grim warning that the threat of terror strike on America is at a higher level than it has been since September 11, 2001, and the WikiLeaks release of secret US government cables reveals that al Qaeda is on the brink of using a nuclear bomb, a new President stands between his people and the CIA warmongers with the only question being will he protect them like Kennedy did?
The answer to that question, sadly, appears to be “no” as new information recently obtained by US journalists show that not only has Obama failed to discipline those CIA officers who have led the United States to near total collapse, he has promoted them in numbers never before seen in history.

Why the Arab World Is Seething

Egypt is not alone. Fed by the example of Tunisia, whose leader was driven from power by demonstrations last month, anger has begun to boil over, or threatens to do so, across a number of Arab countries living under authoritarian rule or, in the Palestinians’ case, in a state of intermittent conflict. While the fury has varied roots, clues to its depth are offered by snapshots of rights violations reported by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch in the region during the last year. US Terror Campaign in Pakistan?

The mystery surrounding Raymond A. Davis, the American former Special Forces operative jailed in Lahore, Pakistan for the murder of two young motorcyclists, and his funky “security” company, Hyperion-Protective Consultants LLC, in the US continues to grow.
When Davis was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the double slaying in a busy business section of Lahore, after he had fatally shot two men in the back, claiming that he feared they might be threatening to rob him, police found business cards on him for a security company called Hyperion-Protective Consultants LLC, which listed as its address 5100 North Lane, Orlando, Florida.
A website for the company gave the same address, and listed the manager as a Gerald Richardson.
An investigation into the company done for Counterpunch Magazine that was published on Tuesday, disclosed that the address was actually for a vacant storefront in a run-down and almost completely empty strip mall in Orlando called North Lane Plaza. The 5100 shop was completely empty and barren, save for an empty Coke glass on a vacant counter.

We're All Egyptians Now!

And Tunisians, and Yemenis, and Algerians, and Jordanians, and Lebanese, and, of course, Palestinians, suffering for over six decades after Israel stole their historic homeland, over 43 years under brutal, suffocating occupation. Their struggle is ours, and it's high time we reacted, showing spirit as courageous as theirs.
In her latest January 31 article, Phyllis Bennis headlined, "Tunisia's Spark and Egypt's Flame: the Middle East is Rising," asking:
"Is this how empires end, with people flooding the streets, demanding resignation of their leaders and forcing local dictators out? Maybe not entirely, (but the) legacy of US-dominated governments across the region will never be the same. The US empire's reach in the resource-rich and strategically vital Middle East has been shaken to its core….The years of Washington calling the shots (based on its) version of 'stability' are definitively over."

The US arms industry and the people's revolt in Egypt

"The military was greeted warmly on the streets of Cairo. Crowds roared with approval as one soldier was carried through Tahrir Square today holding a flower in his hand," reports Democracy Now! senior producer Sharif Abdel Kouddous.
He speaks of "a great sense of pride that this is a leaderless movement organized by the people. A genuine popular revolt. It was not organized by opposition movements, though they have now joined the protesters in Tahrir."

According to Abdel Kouddous, "The Muslim Brotherhood was out in full force today. At one point they began chanting "Allah Akbar" only to be drowned out by much louder chants of "Muslim, Christian, we are all Egyptian."
What he describes, reflected in the TV coverage, is truly a "people's revolution". Will it play out that way? So far, the main concern of the protesters has been to get rid of Hosni Mubarak, Egypt's "president"-cum-dictator for the past 30 years.
The US has kept Mubarak in power, giving his regime 1.5 billion dollars in aid last year – mainly because he supported America's pro-Israel policies, especially by helping Israel to maintain its stranglehold on Gaza.

Egypt has been the number-two recipient (after Israel) of US foreign aid. In both 2009 and 2010, the economic aid amounted to 250 million dollars while military aid reached 1.3 billion dollars.
US military aid to Egypt has been spent primarily on strengthening the regime's "domestic security" and its ability to confront popular movements.
In a report for the Carnegie Foundation on US aid to Egypt, Ahmad al-Sayed El-Naggar asks: "Why don't Egyptians notice the role of American aid to their country? The simple answer is that US economic aid to Egypt, which amounted to 455 million dollars in 2007, translated to only 6 dollars per capita."
It was even less in 2010 when the total economic aid of 200 million dollars could provide less than 3 dollars per capita income. The people have suffered poverty while Mubarak supported his army and the US military-industrial complex.
The US has no reason to begrudge the amounts of military aid to Egypt. Much of it goes back to American defence contractors. Lockheed Martin received a 213 million contract for 20 new F-16s for Egypt in March 2010, boasted the company on its website.
BAE Systems, General Dynamics, General Electric, Raytheon and Lockheed Martin have all done business with the Egyptian government, selling tanks, fighter jets, howitzers and radar arrays to its military.
Meanwhile, half the people of Egypt live on less than 2 dollars a day. Is it any wonder that they have taken to the streets in protest?
When the tanks rolled into Cairo, some protesters climbed on them to a friendly reception by the soldiers. A couple of noisy fighter jets swooped threateningly overhead, but the protesters and the army remained friendly. Throughout the day people chanted: "The people, the army: one hand."
That wasn't the case when the police and the security forces threw tear gas canisters with labels "Made in America" into the crowds. The security police have represented much of what the Egyptian people have come to hate about Mubarak.
Meanwhile, the US administration has been waffling when asked whether they support the Egyptian public or Mubarak.
Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, stressed that Egypt's future lies in the hands of its people, hewing to the administration line of refusing to take sides publicly.
However, the administration has a growing fear that a government hostile to the US could gain control of such a large and important Arab nation.
The unspoken fear is that American arms manufacturers will lose a reliable customer.
