The reality considered an absolute value has becomes dynamic with the uni-polar world moving towards information operations (IO) and information warfare. The psychological (Psy) operations as part of information operations (IO) launched against Pakistan now focus on creating confusion and demoralisation amongst Pakistanis and increase the wedge between the leadership, security apparatus and general population. In aftermath of Raymond, Osama and Naval base incidents of April-May the covert ground operations are being conducted through help of terrorist organisations who move hand in hand and terrorise the hearts and mind of target population through building and harnessing perceptions. The ideal covert operation are always carried out by a state through non-state actors. The amount of involvement of other state is measured through intended objectives of such operations. Covert ground actions supported by media and intelligence mostly compliment IO under such environment .

Top general wounded, 7 dead in suicide attack in northern Afghanistan

Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- A top coalition general wounded in a suicide attack Saturday in northern Afghanistan -- one that left seven dead and eight others hurt -- said weeks earlier that he'd charged international troops to "show Afghans ... respect," in part to contrast with brazen actions by the likes of the Taliban.
The attack in Taloqan occurred at a high-level meeting of Afghan and coalition officials in a governor's office, a provincial spokesman said. A Taliban spokesman said that the group, whose fight to resume control in Afghanistan has picked up in recent months, was responsible.

PNS MEHRAN ATTACK WAS "American operation"

The former head of Pakistan's ISI, Hamid Gul, tells Channel 4 News that he is "100 per cent sure" a Taliban attack on a major naval air base in Karachi was an "American operation".

The Pakistani Taliban have claimed responsibility for a major assault on the headquarters of the naval air force in Karachi that killed at least thirteen officials and injured 14 others.

Eleven navy officers and two paramilitary rangers died in the attack at the PNS Mehran base in Karachi after 16 hours of intense fighting, involving 130 Pakistani commandos.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik said just six militants were believed to be involved in the attack, destroying or damaging two aircraft and laying siege to a main building in one of the most heavily-guarded bases in the unstable, nuclear-armed country.

US was prepared for Pakistan clash !

WASHINGTON: US President Barack Obama ordered that the team sent to raid Osama bin Laden’s compound be large enough to fight off Pakistani forces should they intervene, the New York Times reported.

Citing unnamed officials, the paper said Obama raised the prospect of a clash 10 days before the May 1 raid, resulting in an extra two fighter helicopters being sent to protect the commandos raiding the compound.

“Some people may have assumed we could talk our way out of a jam, but given our difficult relationship with Pakistan right now, the president did not want to leave anything to chance,” it quoted a senior official as saying.

Morale plunges among troops in Afghanistan

U.S. troops fighting in Afghanistan are experiencing some of the greatest psychological stress and lowest morale in five years of fighting, reports a military study.

“We’re an Army that’s in uncharted territory here,” said Gen. Peter Chiarelli, Army vice chief of staff, who has focused on combat stress. “We have never fought for this long with an all-volunteer force that’s 1 percent of the population.”

Mental health strain was most severe among veterans of three or more deployments, with a third of those showing signs of psychological problems defined as either stress, depression or anxiety, the report obtained by USA Today says

PAKISTAN’S LONG WAR HAS BEGUN

For Pakistanis, this is not time to feel embarrassed and to hang heads in shame over the simplicity and quickness of the operation that killed Osama Bin Laden. It is rather, a time for a long overdue bugle cry that Pakistan is at War. 1/5 was not Pakistan’s Day inasmuch as 9/11 exposed the vulnerabilities in USA’s homeland security.

Writing in Nation in December 2010, I had assessed the next eighteen months and beyond as crucial for Pakistan and reiterated it in my article ‘Pakistan Must Reassert Itself’ on 20 February. I had written, ‘the next 18 months and beyond will test Pakistan to the verge”.

Between the 14th and 17th months we have witnessed the Raymond Davis Case, a drone attack on a peaceful jirga, a fully fledged conventional multi directional night attack on a border outpost in Dir, a border skirmish at Anghoor Adda and now the operation to kill Osama Bin laden.

Bin Laden death an end to Afghan war?

The killing of Osama bin Laden in a US military operation in Pakistan has reinvigorated debate in Washington on whether the US troops should now withdraw from Afghanistan.

Politicians from both the right and the left are calling for significant troops drawdown given that the al-Qaeda leader was the reason behind the US-led invasion of Afghanistan, as the daily cost of the war exceeds USD 300 million, a Press TV correspondent in Washington reported on Tuesday. 

“The American people are not supportive of the war in Afghanistan to begin with. Now that Osama bin Laden is killed, I think they are going to have much less reason to support it,” said Larry Korb of the Center for American Progress. 

The White House says bin Laden's death serves as a boost for continuing military operations to weaken al-Qaeda and that Washington would not stop the so-called war on terror.

Good And Bad Taliban In Pakistan

The Pakistan Army’s counter-insurgency campaign in Swat has been undeniably successful, not least in comparison to our own efforts in Afghanistan. 

Though until the spring of 2009 the district was one of the centers of militancy in Pakistan, the last suicide bombing there was in July 2010. The leadership of the Pakistani Taliban and their local allies have been killed, captured or driven out. The main leader, Fazlullah, has reportedly taken refuge in Kunar province of Afghanistan, where he was based as a leader of Pakistani volunteers against the Soviets back in the 1980s.

In the lower Swat valley at least, reconstruction has also gone well – astonishingly well, given that on top of the damage caused by the Taliban and the war against them came the floods of August 2010, which hit the narrow Swat valley especially badly. On the whole, I was very impressed by what I saw in Swat when I visited it last month for the first time since the summer of 2009.

The US past and present gives credence to the fact that there is no other country matching its destructive game play. The US used incendiary bombs against German cities in 1942 and adopted it as a strategy. Both the US and British air forces carried out massive night bombing of Dresden in 1945 resulting in 55000-250,000 casualties. Florence city was reduced to rubble within hours. It is the only country which forced Japan to surrender by dropping atom bombs on the cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima and causing deaths to millions. Living beings of these unfortunate countries suffer from nuclear after affects even today. Atomic bomb option was used at the fag end of 2nd world war in 1945 as means of pre-empting its invasion of Japanese heartland, which was sure to cause very heavy American casualties. In Hiroshima instant deaths were 100,000; the toll later rose to 200,000. In Nagasaki, 40,000 died instantly while 150,000 died eventually. 330,000 people perished in conventional aerial incendiary bomb attacks.

Azikiwe: It is really not surprising. We have felt since the beginning of the uprising that the Central Intelligence Agency was playing a key role in the whole process of not only coordinating but financing and providing political covers for the rebels who are fighting against the Libyan government.

The CIA has a history in Africa since World War II by getting involved in all destabilization efforts against progressive governments and against the national liberation movement.

Pakistan Army Conducts Successful Military Exercises In Khudai Ranges

Multan: Pakistan army conducted successful war exercises in the Khudai range near Muzzafargarh. Large scale use of tanks, artilleries and other weapons was made in the exercises.

At the occasion, Corps Commander Multan Lieutenant General Shafqat Ahmad said the army was required to remain alert to face challenges at the country’s eastern border, and to operate against terrorism. He said the armed forces of Pakistan were capable enough to guard the country’s frontiers. Ahmad also visited the semi-desert Khudai Ranges near Muzzaffargarh and witnessed exercises conducted by armour, infantry and artillery troops. The corps commander also reiterated that Multan troops played a significant role in “Operation Labbaik”, which ensured appropriate rescue and rehabilitation of displaced persons from Southern Punjab.

New World Order: CIA's rebels already establish new 'Central Bank of Libya'

The rebels in Libya are in the middle of a life or death civil war and Moammar Gadhafi is still in power and yet somehow the Libyan rebels have had enough time to establish a new Central Bank of Libya and form a new national oil company.  Perhaps when this conflict is over those rebels can become time management consultants.  They sure do get a lot done.  

What a skilled bunch of rebels - they can fight a war during the day and draw up a new central bank and a new national oil company at night without any outside help whatsoever.  If only the rest of us were so versatile!  But isn't forming a central bank something that could be done after the civil war is over?  According to Bloomberg, the Transitional National Council has "designated the Central Bank of Benghazi as a monetary authority competent in monetary policies in Libya and the appointment of a governor to the Central Bank of Libya, with a temporary headquarters in Benghazi." Apparently someone felt that it was very important to get pesky matters such as control of the banks and control of the money supply out of the way even before a new government is formed.

Of course it is probably safe to assume that the new Central Bank of Libya will be 100% owned and 100% controlled by the newly liberated people of Libya, isn't it?

How Will America Handle The Fall of Its Middle East Empire?

Empires can collapse in the course of a generation. At the end of the 16th century, the Spanish looked dominant. Twenty-five years later, they were on their knees, over-extended, bankrupt, and incapable of coping with the emergent maritime powers of Britain and Holland. The British empire reached its fullest extent in 1930. Twenty years later, it was all over.

Today, it is reasonable to ask whether the United States, seemingly invincible a decade ago, will follow the same trajectory. America has suffered two convulsive blows in the last three years. The first was the financial crisis of 2008, whose consequences are yet to be properly felt. Although the immediate cause was the debacle in the mortgage market, the underlying problem was chronic imbalance in the economy.

The Obama administration’s oft-repeated claim that US-Pakistan understanding and cooperation had graduated to a level where it could be described as a ‘strategic relationship’, never carried much conviction in either capital. The Raymond Davis case has confirmed the limitations of our ties to Washington.

While some in Pakistan are distressed at the way this ‘cause célèbre’ has impacted on our relations, it holds important lessons for both countries which are equally guilty of missteps, arising out of misperceptions that do no credit to either.

US Embassy Protects Dutch Diplomats Carrying Grenades In Pakistan

This happened seventeen months ago, but it is important to recall it now after the arrest of CIA agent Raymond Davis. This story establishes a pattern.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan—On Tuesday, 6 October 2009, new evidence emerged on how the US Embassy in Islamabad is involved in providing diplomatic cover to illegal CIA operations in Pakistan.

Dutch diplomats were intercepted carrying explosives near the residence of Pakistani president. The weapons were not licensed and the car number plate were fake. The real surprise came when the US Embassy in Islamabad dispatched a US embassy employee to save the Dutch diplomats.

The weapons found by Pakistani policemen were no exactly the kind one would carry for self-protection. The police recovered two 9-millimeter pistols, four magazines, two smoke grenades, two stun grenades and six bulletproof jackets. The two Dutch diplomats, identified as Tomas Smith and William Van, failed to produce any permits for the weapons.

When asked why they were carrying grenades, the Dutch diplomats claimed the grenades were for testing purposes. In a few minutes, an employee of the US embassy, Sunny Christopher, arrived in another vehicle to back up the Dutch diplomats, giving rise to the speculations that the latter might have been transporting weapons for the Americans.
